It is almost 50 years since Mrs. Walentyna became a young widow. Her husband, Mr Eugeniusz, died after a 3-year illness, leaving Mrs Walentyna with two small sons. There was also a farm and therefore a lot of work. To send her sons to school and pay for their education, she had to earn extra money. She worked in the forest, setting up nurseries. She has four grandchildren and a beautiful great-granddaughter. Her sons take care of their mother as much as they can, but they live far away.

Her neighbours used to visit her but they don’t come anymore as they are also old and infirm. Therefore, as soon as our innovation started, we took Mrs Wala into the care of our home hospice. The caregiver visits her twice a week and helps with cleaning, washing and with other household chores. Walentyna says she  looks forward to a visit of the coordinator – Mrs Irena, so that she can talk more and talk about this difficult stage in her life, and she is already 88 years old.
